Nigel Hullah: A passionate champion for people living with dementia

I was deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Nigel Hullah, whose passion for improving the rights of people living with dementia and older people’s rights more generally inspired so many in Wales and beyond.

My team worked with Nigel over many years, and I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to meet with him a number of times since I took up post. During one meeting he said something that will always stay with me: if we get it right for people with dementia, then we get it right for everyone.

Nigel leaves behind an important legacy, having established Lleisiau Dementia, which gave a voice to people across Wales living with dementia, as well as being a driving force in the creation of the Dementia Action Plan for Wales and a wide range of other important work at a UK and international level.

Nigel will be truly missed and my thoughts and best wishes are with his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.
