Commissioner welcomes Women’s Well-being Hubs and says older women’s voices must be heard
Older People’s Commissioner for Wales, Rhian Bowen-Davies, said:
“I welcome the announcement that Women’s Well-being Hubs are being introduced across Wales, which aim to ensure key services and support for female patients are delivered in community-settings in a flexible way.
“Action to support women’s health is crucial given the significant inequalities and barriers we often face in terms of access and outcomes, particularly as we grow older.
“The community focus is hugely important as many older women have told me they have found it difficult, if not impossible, to access health services which have been relocated, often facing additional challenges as a result of transport issues, caring responsibilities or digital exclusion.
“As plans for local hubs are being finalised, older women must have meaningful opportunities to make their voices heard so their experiences shape decision-making, and to ensure that the services on offer – as well as how and where they are delivered – reflect the needs of women of all ages.”
