About the Commissioner
The Older People’s Commissioner for Wales – Rhian Bowen-Davies – is an independent voice and champion for older people, standing up and speaking out on their behalf and ensuring their rights are protected.
The Commissioner’s work is focused on ensuring older people:
- Can access the services and support they need
- Feel safe in their homes, relationships and communities
- Are treated fairly, with their contribution recognised and valued
- Can make their voices heard and have choice and control over their lives
The Commissioner’s work is supported by a unique set of legal powers, which enable her to scrutinise the action and decisions of key public bodies – such as the Welsh Government, health boards and local authorities – and hold them to account to drive positive change for older people.
The Commissioner also provides information and support to hundreds of older people every year through her Advice and Assistance service. You can contact the team via the link on the HOME screen.
