Older People’s Commissioner for Wales, Heléna Herklots CBE, said:
“Lifelong learning opportunities are vital to support people to age well and bring a wide range of benefits, allowing people to remain mentally active, learn new skills and make new connections.
“I therefore welcome today’s announcement that people over the age of 60 will now be able to access financial help, in the form of a bursary, that will support them to participate in postgraduate education and complete a Master’s degree.
“The lack of this kind of funding to date has meant that many older people have been unable to access postgraduate education opportunities and I am pleased that the Welsh Government has responded so positively to my calls for action to be taken to tackle this issue.”
