Older People’s Commissioner for Wales, Heléna Herklots CBE, said:
“I welcome the publication of the Welsh Government’s Vaccination Strategy and the Minister’s statement, which sets out key milestones for delivering the Covid-19 vaccine to priority groups throughout Wales.
“I have been contacted by a number of older people seeking information about the roll-out of the vaccine, particularly the timescales for delivery, and I hope that the strategy will provide much needed assurance and clarity.
“As the Minister acknowledged in his update, the pace and scale of the roll-out needs to increase significantly as we move forward in order to reach these milestones, and I know that staff and volunteers across our NHS and other public services will continue their hard work to ensure that the vaccine is delivered as effectively as possible.
“I will continue to closely scrutinise the delivery of the vaccination in Wales, and will be engaging regularly with the Welsh Government to share any issues and concerns raised with me by older people.”
