Older People’s Commissioner for Wales, Heléna Herklots CBE, said:
“The findings of the Public Accounts Committee’s review of governance arrangements at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board make clear that more needs to be done, at a greater pace, to not only deliver the required improvements, but also to rebuild trust and provide assurance to older people and their families throughout north Wales that the care they receive will be of the highest standard.
“I welcome the Committee’s recommendations and look forward to seeing the Welsh Government’s response, which I hope will be positive and will ensure that effective and timely action is taken to address the issues identified by the report.
“As Commissioner, I will continue to monitor the action being taken by the health board and the progress being made, raising any concerns with board members and the Minister for Health and Social Services, alongside continuing to provide help and support to older patients in north Wales through my casework service.”
